This paper is based on personal interviews, previous case studies and a time consuming manual search from press clippings, reports and articles as well as correspond to relevant companies and regulators. The purpose of this paper is to examine the European banks and insurance companies' involvement in cross-business activities and draw some of their performance. After highlighting the European banking and insurance market, the paper investigates how the European banks and insurance companies enter into cross-business, how much liberalisation the European banks and insurance companies have been given by the regulators, how the bancassurance system works at branch level, and finally, their competitive performance. |
